“The Feast of the elderly” (敬老の日, Keiro No Hi):

It is celebrated today in Japan, “The Feast of the elderly” (敬老の日, Keiro No Hi). The day for respect for the elderly is a national holiday since 1966. Usually celebrated on September 15, falls on the third Monday in September. On this day people do thanks and prayers for the elderly, have recently been introduced also nice gifts and doodles of children to their grandparents or even official recognition of the government in particular elderly centenarians. In addition, Japan is the country’s longest running in the world and employs more than 30,000 centenarians!
